Emily was just about to turn one when we held her cake smash session. What a photogenic little one she was! Her mom made her the cake (she's a home-ec teacher by trade and gifted when it comes to all things edible) and we had an awesome time encouraging Emily to devour it. Of course, we had pretty pre-icing-on-the-face photos first, followed by the cake smash, followed by an awesome bath-in-a-pail. Her mom always has awesome ideas, and the wash-up idea was inspired by a pinterest photo she saw. I just had to go out and invest in a suitable pail! All in all it was lots of fun and I don't think it could have gone better.

This January I got the opportunity to photograph Colin & Charmaine's wedding. It was a unique experience for me, as I taught both of them in high school, and it was a privilege to witness what mature, incredible, people they continue to be. We started our photoshoot down by the Mendel Art Gallery, and it was a coooooold day (-25 plus windchill) - it felt about -40. They braved the cold, though, and the result was a magical winter wedding background for their formal pictures. From there we headed over to the Agriculture building to take a few indoor family pictures and snapped a few more outside on campus before heading to the Guitar & Amp store on 20th for their formal wedding: store by day and venue by evening. All in all it was a great day and I felt privileged to be part of it. About a month ago I had the pleasure of going to Nostalgia Hall, a sweet little venue just south of Saskatoon, for a photo session with the Linners. I had never been to Nostalgia Hall before and I was impressed with their gorgeous grounds - the location included prairie fields complete with hay bales, a little antique farmhouse, a classic old truck, and beautiful woods. I highly recommend it as an event venue! I actually got to do two shoots there that day - firstly was Trisha and Matt's engagement session (he proposed at the end of a marathon they ran together - love that!) and secondly was a big extended family session with all of the Linners. I think it was Donna and Tony's 40th Anniversary celebration? As I write that it seems they are too young to be married that long, but I think I'm right! All in all it was a lovely day and I although I enjoy the winter wonderland that arrived today, I am nostalgic for the warm, earthly, colours of fall. I was lucky enough to have the most amazing mom group ever. It was full of women who gathered weekly to share the ups and downs of motherhood. I was a random member. A chance meeting at a cancelled post-natal yoga class led to my invitation to attend it that same day. I met Dusty that afternoon and, as often happens in Saskatoon, we soon realized that I had attended high school with her husband some ten+ years earlier. They are a lovely family and I felt privileged to capture their family's moment in time in this photo shoot! Madison & Kevin got married last month - it was a lovely wedding on what felt like the first day of fall; luckily mother nature co-operated and spared us the rain. I love their choice of location - Gabriel Dumont Park was beautiful as the fall colours were just peaking out. I got the privilege of meeting Baby Addison a few weeks ago. She was absolutely the sweetest baby. The weather was cooperating and so we headed out to the park to take a few shots. The swing image is a composite - baby safety is always #1 and so Addison never left the ground (2 shots were photoshopped together). A couple of weekends ago I had the pleasure of photographing Mel & Devon for a baby bump session. We met at River Landing and meandered our way to the boathouse and back. It was the first weekend that Saskatoon was at all "green" this spring. Mel & Devon were so relaxed and fun to work with. I can't wait to be meet baby Drake! Here are some of the highlights from our session. I had a great time photographing Piper & her family for her two year birthday milestone. She has grown up so quickly and it is amazing to see her individual personality at this young age! It was one of those chilly days in April, but everyone toughed it out and we had a great shoot. At the end, Michelle introduced me to this adorable little tea shop by river landing and I got to shoot a few shots of Piper & family indoors. |
